Building a special tourism program for Hung Yen City - 2

care about the current life of local people and the future development of my hometown. I want to contribute a small part of myself to my hometown to show my love and respect for the land that has raised me.

That is the motivation that prompted me to choose the topic: "Building a special tourism program for Hung Yen City" as my graduation thesis topic.

2. History of research problem

Hung Yen City is a young, dynamic city and a potential market. Researching the city's tourism development potential is not a new issue. Research on Pho Hien has long been of interest to many domestic and foreign researchers. First of all, since the 17th century, Pho Hien has been known to many countries when it became an important trading port, under the control of Lord Trinh. Since then, Pho Hien has become the target of survey and research by many scientists, professors, merchants, historians, and archaeologists at home and abroad.

Some typical authors and research works about Hung Yen city include:

Nguyen Phuc Lai (editor-in-chief), (2001), Hung Yen - 170 years and (2009), Hung Yen cultural alluvium have shown a panoramic picture of Hung Yen from the past to the present, a Hung Yen city that preserves many traditional cultural values.

Bui Viet Bac (editor-in-chief), (2005), Typical scenic relics of Pho Hien, Hung Yen, introduced the general content and characteristics of some famous relics and scenic spots in Pho Hien, Hung Yen such as Xich Dang Temple of Literature, Chuong Pagoda, Mau Temple, Thien Hau Temple, Pho Pagoda, An Vu Communal House, etc.

Building a special tourism program for Hung Yen City - 2

In 2005, the Culture - Information Publishing House published the book "Typical scenic relics of Pho Hien, Hung Yen". The book recorded in detail

Very complete and specific about the relics of ancient Pho Hien but does not research tourism development.

Nguyen Dinh Nha (editor-in-chief), (2006), Pho Hien, scientific conference proceedings, has collected many scientific articles by many domestic and international scholars researching from many angles and on many aspects of Pho Hien: history, culture, religious beliefs, socio-economics...

Le Minh Phung, (2012), Pho Hien's prosperity, decline and thoughts on promoting human resources , has outlined the history of formation, development and decline of Pho Hien and the issue of preserving and promoting the values of Pho Hien.

In 2012, student Do Thi Thu Hang - Hai Phong Private University did her thesis on the topic "Evaluation of human tourism resources of Hung Yen city". However, the topic only stopped at the general assessment level and did not provide specific measures or specific programs for Hung Yen city.

Dr. Nguyen Khac Hao, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Nha, (2012) published the book: Pho Hien , giving an overview of Pho Hien, the traditional cultural values of Pho Hien and the changes of Pho Hien on the path of development.

Nguyen Thi Loan, (2013), has carried out her graduation thesis with the topic: Potential, current situation and main solutions to exploit the human tourism resources of Hung Yen province for the period 2009-2015 . The topic has surveyed and specifically evaluated the human tourism resources of Hung Yen province and proposed some solutions to develop the province's cultural tourism.

In addition, there are a number of articles published on Hung Yen websites and electronic newspapers that mentioned some types of tourism, technical facilities serving tourism, and the current situation of tourism in Hung Yen: Community tourism in the cultural countryside of Hung Yen , (2012); Hotels in Hung Yen , (2015); Mai Nhung, (2013), Cultural festival of Pho Hien region: Arousing pride in Longan land ; Ngo

Van, (2009), Mau Temple is sacred and attractive to tourists ; Phuong Huyen, Century Bun thang - rich in the flavor of the homeland ; Thuy Hang, (2012), Unique Stork Island in Hung Yen...

However, the construction of specific tourism programs in Hung Yen City has not had many studies on this issue or if there are, they are only general and not specific. Therefore, it can be said that this is not a new but also not old issue for researchers.

3. Research purpose

Researching this topic first of all introduces a general overview of Hung Yen City, from its geographical location, natural conditions, history, culture, and society. Second, it introduces and describes the location, history, and architecture of Pho Hien, historical relics, folk cultural festivals, and traditional craft villages. Third, from the above introduction and description, we can see the current situation of exploiting and using tourism resources and at the same time see the potential for tourism development here, thereby building specific tourism programs to develop tourism potential in Hung Yen City. Therefore, my research paper hopes to contribute to tourism development, thereby contributing to promoting the city's economy to change the face of the young city in the era of knowledge economy.

4. Research methods

I used the chronological method in the process of researching textual documents. Using the method of analyzing and synthesizing information from source documents, from there summarizing, evaluating and applying the field research method to have practical documents in the locality about architecture, types of folk culture, traditional craft villages... In addition, to build a specific tourism program to effectively exploit the tourism resources here, I used the comparative method. Based on comparing the current status of tourism development in Hung Yen City in previous stages, from there, reasonable programs were proposed to effectively use the tourism resources of the region.

5. Scope of research

Content: Research the potential for exploiting tourism resources, thereby developing specific tourism programs to effectively exploit these resources.

Chapter 1: Topic Overview

1.1. Concept of tourism and tourism program

1.1.1. Concept of tourism

Currently there are many definitions of tourism, depending on different research perspectives, each person has a different understanding of tourism:

UNWTO (World Tourism Organization): “Tourism is the activities of persons travelling to and staying in places other than their usual residence for more than one day and less than one year for leisure, business and other purposes not related to any payment made at the place visited”.

Vietnam Tourism Law (2005) stipulates: "Tourism is activities related to human trips outside their regular place of residence to meet the needs of learning, sightseeing, entertainment, and relaxation within a certain period of time".

Thus, tourism usually refers to an activity of leaving one's place of residence for a certain space and time to enjoy, experience, and discover new and different things about nature and culture to enrich one's spiritual life and satisfy one's curiosity.

A tour program is a predetermined schedule, services and program prices for a tourist's trip from the starting point to the end point of the trip. 1

Thus, a tour program can be understood as a predetermined schedule of a trip organized by travel agencies, which determines the trip time, tourist destination, stops, accommodation services, transportation, other services and the price of the program.

1.1.2. Elements that make up a tour program

1 Article 4 – Tourism Law

Tourism programs play an important role for tourist destinations and tourists. For tourist destinations, tourism programs create job opportunities for professional and non-professional workers, that is, direct and indirect workers of the tourism industry, bring foreign currency to the country, encourage the preservation of cultural heritage and traditions, increase income for the state and local budgets. For tourists, tourism programs provide tourists with choices through the right combination of local tours and package tours, creating opportunities to interact and learn about culture, heritage, history, relics, landscapes, etc.

To create a tour program, it is necessary to ensure the main requirements such as feasibility, suitability to market demand, meeting the goals of the travel company, and having the attraction to motivate tourists to decide to buy the tour program. To achieve these requirements, tour programs are built in a strict process with the following basic steps:

Research market demand (tourist market, tourist psychology, product market...)

Research the responsiveness of tourism resources, tourism suppliers, level of competition in the market...

Determine the capabilities and position of the company, travel business.

Develop the purpose and ideas of the tour program.

Determine the level of limitation as well as the time budget and price of the tour program.

Build a tour itinerary with the main and required tourist attractions of the program.

Plan appropriate means of transportation for each tour route as well as accommodation and dining options.

Detail the program with contents, activities, sightseeing, resting, entertainment, shopping... along the entire route and itinerary.

Determine the cost and selling price of the tour program.

Develop mandatory and required program regulations.

Many travel agencies when building a package tour program may skip some of the above steps. However, when building a tour, professional tour operators often collect basic information about tourism supply and demand, understand the needs, tastes, and preferences of each customer market group, and have the ability to discover new connections to create unique tourism programs based on understanding of tourism resources and tourism businesses. The value of a package tour program depends largely on the conditions of tourism resources and the ability to welcome and serve tourists at that destination.

The idea of a tour program is the best combination between the needs of tourists and tourism resources. A good idea not only creates an attractive program but also contributes to creating a memorable and attached name to the program and is the direction to have new and unique forms of tourism.
