INTRODUCTION
1. Reason for choosing the topic
Nowadays, culture and economy have a clear and strong connection and impact on each other. While economy aims to meet the material needs of each person, culture is seen as aiming at sustainable development of both material and spiritual aspects of human beings. The development of each country and nation can only be effective and sustainable when it achieves harmonious development between economy and culture. Therefore, today, culture becomes a factor directly participating in the process of economic development.
Mai Chau District, Hoa Binh Province is a land famous for its folk culture, unique festivals, and regional cultural features of some ethnic groups in the Northwest, especially the Thai people in Mai Chau. This is a land with potential for tourism development, attracting tourists to visit and relax. The most unique tourist destination in Mai Chau is probably Lac village. This place attracts tourists with cultural activities of the Thai people such as Thai xoe, xap dance, festivals, costumes, stilt houses, etc. The unique feature in the culture of the Thai people in Mai Chau district is that they belong to the "Thai Lai" group. Because the Thai people in Mai Chau live near the Muong people and are close to the Thai group in Laos, the culture of the Thai people here has some differences compared to the Thai people in the Northwest region. The cultural activities of the Thai people in Mai Chau include cultural activities serving the spiritual life of the people here and cultural activities serving tourists. These cultural activities therefore also carry manifestations of Thai culture, Muong culture and cultures of other ethnic groups.
Although it is a famous tourist area associated with Thai culture and increasingly attracting tourists, currently in Lac village, Mai Chau, there is still a situation where some cultural activities are being affected by commercialization, many activities show signs of losing their own identity. Many customs
Traditional living practices are gradually fading away; the ecological landscape is no longer intact and wild, solid high-rise buildings are springing up in the middle of villages, destroying the traditional landscape. Infrastructure has not yet met the requirements of synchronous and sustainable development, mainly due to people doing it themselves, spontaneously without following a common direction or criteria; tourism products and services are not diverse, mainly brocade, wine, and bamboo rice, with low competitiveness.
Currently, cultural activities in Lac village associated with tourism development tend to fade the cultural identity of the Thai people in Lac village, Mai Chau district, or in other words, the typical cultural activities of the Thai people have changed a lot. Therefore, it is necessary to have a study approaching from the perspective of cultural management to point out the current status of cultural activities in Lac village tourist area; from there, suggest and propose solutions to improve the effectiveness of cultural activities management in Lac village tourist area, Chieng Chau commune, Mai Chau district. This is also a contribution to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, when preserving national cultural identity becomes the key to success in the process of integration and globalization.
With the above content, the author chose the topic "Management of cultural activities at Lac village tourist area, Mai Chau " as his master's thesis in cultural management.
2. Research situation
2.1. Research documents on Thai culture in Mai Chau
In the book " Understanding the history and culture of the Thai people in Mai Chau" by many authors (edited by Lo Cao Nhum) National Culture Publishing House, 2016, issues such as: The history of the formation of the Thai people and clearly stated the customs and laws of the Thai people in Mai Chau were mentioned. The book helps the author of the thesis to have an overview of the cultural history of the Thai people in Mai Chau [14].
