INTRODUCTION
1. Reasons for choosing the topic
Nowadays, tourism has become a popular socio-economic phenomenon in countries around the world. In Vietnam, tourism is identified as a key economic sector that brings many benefits not only in terms of economy but also social benefits such as job creation, poverty reduction, income redistribution and good exploitation of potential resources.
The trend of tourism development today is to develop cultural tourism, when natural tourism resources are increasingly exhausted and overexploited. Cultural tourism resources are focused on exploitation because in addition to satisfying the needs of tourists, they are also tourism resources that are always supplemented and regenerated due to the endless creativity of human society.
The old Ha Tay province is a large geographical area with rich tourism potential, especially rich in human tourism resources. After merging with Hanoi (old), there have been changes and integration in the new situation. However, some tourism resources that were the strengths of the old Ha Tay have no longer maintained their inherent position in the orientation and planning of tourism development of the capital, leading to a waste of resources. On the other hand, there is an interruption in the development of specific tourism products with a resource orientation in the local industry development strategy. This is the main reason why the author chose to study the potential of exploiting cultural and religious values to develop tourism, a resource that accounts for a relatively large proportion in the human tourism resource system of the old Ha Tay province, as the research object in his master's thesis with the hope of making it a part of the
That resource is exploited effectively and in its proper position in the practical development of tourism.
2. History of research problem:
In recent times, cultural tourism in general and religious tourism in particular have received much attention from the State, the Department of Culture - Sports - Tourism and travel agencies. This type of tourism not only meets the trend of modern tourism development but also exploits the maximum development potential of tourism resources, in accordance with the natural and cultural characteristics of the country. For that reason, the construction of a theoretical framework and field research on religious cultural tourism is an urgent requirement for organizations and businesses in the tourism sector. However, the subject of tourism exploiting religious culture is often only interested from a broad perspective; specific research topics on religious cultural tourism appear with low frequency, mainly included in topics with a broader research scope such as cultural tourism and spiritual tourism (exploiting religious culture and major religions).
Currently, there are many research topics on spiritual tourism, of which some notable topics are Research on spiritual tourism types in Vietnam conducted by Dr. Nguyen Trung Khanh. This topic has many contributions in classifying spiritual tourism based on resources and tourism motivations, and at the same time building a theoretical basis on the tourism aspect for more detailed studies such as research on tourism development associated with Buddhism, folk beliefs, etc. The topic Research on spiritual tourism development in Nam Dinh province conducted by MSc. Nguyen Thi Thu Duyen goes into depth to analyze the potential and current status of spiritual tourism development associated with cultural tourism resources of Nam Dinh province and proposes groups of solutions in terms of management.
