Managing physical education activities for students according to competency approach in secondary schools in Pho Yen town, Thai Nguyen province - 15

Instruct teachers to base on previous years' learning results to classify students in terms of knowledge acquisition ability, physical training awareness, foster and guide gifted students in learning methods appropriate to the subject's characteristics, and direct the shift from mainly assessing final subject learning results to regular and periodic assessments. However, there are still some shortcomings such as: not effectively managing teachers' teaching activities in the direction of competency-based approach, not paying attention to capacity building for the team of physical education teachers, and conditions of facilities and teaching equipment are not guaranteed.

Based on the results of the current research, the author proposed the following measures:

- Raising awareness among management staff, teachers and students about physical education according to competency approach.

- Innovate in building plans for physical education activities in the curricular and extracurricular fields.

- Innovate forms of organizing physical education activities according to students' capacity approach in secondary schools.

- Regularly train teachers on expertise and professionalism and innovate methods and forms of organizing physical education teaching according to competency-based approaches.

- Strengthening material facilities to ensure physical education activities according to competency approach.

- Innovation in testing and evaluating physical education results of junior high school students.

The research results of the topic will contribute more theoretical and practical basis to improve the management of physical education for students according to the competency approach in secondary schools in Pho Yen town, Thai Nguyen province.

2. Recommendations

2.1. For the Department of Education and Training of Pho Yen town

Proactively advise the Provincial People's Committee in promulgating policies and regulations for physical education in general as well as enhancing training policies for physical education teachers and talented sports students.

It is necessary to re-evaluate the current status of physical education teachers in schools, advise on training and retraining, increase the number of physical education teachers, especially training physical education capacity according to the competency approach for students.

Research and issue documents directing schools to continue to innovate management work to improve the quality of regular physical education classes and increase the organization of extracurricular sports activities for students to improve quality. Regularly organize professional training courses, seminars or training courses to improve the capacity of organizing extracurricular sports activities for physical education teachers.

Strengthen inter-sectoral coordination with functional sectors such as the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Provincial Youth Union... to organize cultural, artistic, sports activities, diversify extracurricular activities for students.

Promote the socialization of education. Strengthen advocacy and propaganda to attract the attention and material and spiritual support of organizations and individuals in society to actively participate in investing in teaching equipment suitable to the practical requirements of the subject of physical education according to the approach to students' competencies, contributing to the educational cause of the province.

2.2. For secondary schools in Pho Yen town

Closely coordinate with agencies, departments, Party committees and local authorities to do a good job of socializing education, strengthening the organization of cultural and sports activities in schools and school clusters. Create conditions for physical education teachers to participate in studying, training to improve their qualifications, and update their knowledge.

Update advanced scientific information to serve teaching activities according to competency approach and movement activities in schools.

Step by step build and strengthen facilities to serve physical education activities according to students' competency approach at secondary schools.

Strengthening propaganda on innovation and raising awareness of the role of physical education activities according to the approach for students through exchange sessions.

Develop a plan for physical education activities based on a competency-based approach for students, setting specific requirements for the school year. Closely coordinate with the parents' association to do a good job of socializing education to create conditions for organizing physical education activities.

2.3. For teachers

It is necessary to strictly comply with and implement the regulations and rules of the industry and all levels regarding physical education work, actively participate in the learning process to improve professional qualifications and innovate the content and methods of physical education according to the competency approach for students.
