Nowadays, people's material and spiritual life is getting higher and higher... therefore, organizations and individuals with conditions want to contribute their labor and money to satisfy the religious and spiritual needs of each person.
- The work of promoting the value of relics: Currently, this work is of interest to all levels, demonstrated in the following aspects: organizing training on the Law on Cultural Heritage for subjects related to the management and direct protection of relics; organizing the writing of books introducing relics, organizing scientific seminars to serve the propaganda work or the work of restoring and embellishing relics; organizing scientific inventories of artifacts in relics directly managed by the Management Board of Monuments and Landscapes and guiding and coordinating the implementation for ranked relics; organizing the printing of leaflets introducing relics; propagating and introducing relics on mass media; welcoming visitors; strengthening the Management Board of Monuments at the grassroots level.
Immediately after its establishment (in 1988), the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature
- Quoc Tu Giam has proactively researched, explored and applied many effective solutions to manage and preserve the relic and organize cultural and scientific activities to serve tourists. The organization of tourism activities is carried out regularly every day according to a pre-announced schedule. The plan for organizing regular tourism activities is almost unchanged every year.
In the current context of globalization, the work of preserving and promoting values as well as organizing tourism management at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is facing many risks and challenges. Therefore, since 2017, the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam has become an autonomous unit. The organization of tourism activities is carried out according to the regulations set by the Center on organizing cultural activities, joint ventures, associations, receiving sponsorship, in accordance with the law and promoting the progress of building the Master Plan of the Relic to create a legal corridor and infrastructure for this work.
Organizing cultural activities that are rich in types, unique in nature, full of traditional colors, dynamic and bustling, with the ability to integrate the old and the new, the traditional and the modern... is the best solution.
to preserve and promote the value of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam in contemporary life and contribute to preserving "A cultured Thang Long" in the heart of "A civilized, modern Hanoi" for today and tomorrow. Therefore, in addition to regular tourism activities, the Center also plans to organize events at the Temple of Literature.
– Quoc Tu Giam annually or quarterly/monthly. Specifically, the Center has coordinated with many other domestic and international research, cultural and educational, tourism units... to organize hundreds of meaningful cultural events, highly appreciated by experts such as: Book Reading Festival, Vietnam Poetry Day, Professor Award Ceremony, Honoring Valedictorians, Rewarding excellent students, Awarding university and master's degrees, Young Champion Competition, Exhibition of archival documents, Artistic photography, Han - Nom class, Exhibition of Vietnamese and Japanese calligraphy, Exhibition of bonsai - precious stones, Bat Trang pottery... All of these activities are clearly planned, coordinated with many functional agencies to organize together.
It can be seen that the planning, organization and management of tourism and cultural activities at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam relic site is carried out very carefully. Usually, it is carried out at the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, in coordination with relevant parties. These plans, depending on the scale, must be approved and decided by the relevant competent authorities.
3.2.3 Implementation of tourism activities management
3.2.3.1. Management of exhibition of artifacts
In the Great Worship Hall and the Back Palace, there are some precious artifacts on display, such as large bells, stone gongs, screens, parallel sentences, and the 18th-century "Van The Su Bieu" (The Exemplary Teacher of All Generations) with the handwriting of King Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. In addition, this place also preserves the Great Worship Hall of Nguyen Nghiem, father of the great poet Nguyen Du. Behind the Great Worship Hall is the old Quoc Tu Giam School (now the Thai Hoc House). Around the Thai Hoc House area, there is a gallery about the history of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, preserving many artifacts about Confucianism, history of mandarin examinations, pens and inkstones, the four treasures, ironwood pillars, ceramic artifacts such as bowls, plates, teapots, terracotta bricks, and fish-shaped tiles... found underground in the Temple of Literature.
The front hall is a place to display the tradition of studiousness and respect for teachers today, and is also a place to organize scientific seminars, national culture and art. The tube connects the front hall with the back hall and has two doors to the bell house and the drum house.
The back hall is a two-storey wooden structure. The first floor is a place to honor the famous Master of the Imperial Academy Chu Van An and a place to display the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy of Thang Long and the Confucian education of Vietnam, introducing the general history of the formation and development of the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy and the profound values of the tradition of respecting teachers, learning, promoting talents, inheriting and promoting the national cultural heritage. The second floor is a place to worship the famous people who contributed to the construction of the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy and to the cause of Confucian education in Vietnam. They are Ly Thanh Tong, Ly Nhan Tong and Le Thanh Tong.
At the VMQTG exhibition areas, visitors are free to observe, admire, research, survey, film and take photos. The exhibits act as objects of interest at the relics.

Evaluation criteria of the exhibits clearly showing the cultural, historical, scientific and artistic values of the relic: European tourists rated the highest at 2.9, Vietnamese tourists rated the lowest at 2.2.
Evaluation of the criterion of well-preserved exhibits of the relic: European visitors rated this content highest (3.0), Asian visitors rated it low (2.4).
The information boards about the exhibits are complete and clear: European visitors rated the highest at 3.1, Vietnamese visitors rated the lowest at 2.2.
Evaluation of the criteria for attractive exhibits for visitors: European visitors rated the highest at 3.1, Asian and Vietnamese visitors rated the lowest at 2.3.
Further examining the exhibits according to their presentation, survey participants rated them as follows:
The majority of respondents said that the exhibits clearly showed the tradition (56.4%), but the number of people who agreed somewhat was also very large at 25.7%. The number of people who disagreed slightly with this view was 9.8% and only 1.3% disagreed. This shows that the management of the exhibits met the criteria of showing the tradition of the relic site.
55.6% of survey participants affirmed that the exhibits demonstrated the historical and cultural value of the site. 28% strongly agreed with this opinion, 6.7% slightly agreed and no one disagreed with this statement. In fact, the exhibits in the historical site of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam are quite rich and diverse in many different historical periods, so the number of people who assessed the display of the site's spiritual value or the response to the need to learn and explore the site is very high.

When assessing the level of artifacts displayed enough to meet the needs of exploring the relic, the level of disagreement was 41.8% and the level of disagreement was only 0.4%. This shows that the efforts of the collectors of artifacts in the Management Center are very great.
In general, the evaluation of the current exhibition activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is very high, meeting many needs of tourists when visiting and learning about this place.
3.2.3.2. Tour guide activities management
Currently, at the historical and cultural relic of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, the people who provide tour guidance for tourists are usually tour guides who accompany the tour group in the tour program, or on-site interpreters. VMQTG provides on-site interpretation services. There is no mandatory regulation requiring advance registration of interpretation services, however, depending on
Depending on the scale, time, and size of the tour group, you should register for the tour guide service at the location in advance. Register for the tour guide service by phone or directly at the ticket counters.
The tour guide service is mainly performed in 45 minutes, with a group size of less than 50 guests, the tour guide fee is 50,000 VND/turn. The tour route at VMQTG: Temple of Literature Gate - Dai Trung Gate - Khue Van Cac - Thien Quang Well, Doctor's Stele - Dai Thanh Gate - Dai Bai House, Hau Cung - Thai Hoc relic - Quoc Tu Giam. Tour guides at the relic mainly serve domestic tourist groups. International tourist groups often use tour guides. Tour guides in groups often provide guests with general information about the relic, the time and content of the tour guide is less than the tour guide at the site, mainly spending time for guests to participate in other activities such as: watching art performances, shopping for souvenirs...
Narrators are required to wear uniforms: Women wear ao dai, men wear dark trousers, light-colored shirts, leather shoes or sandals, and are provided with speakers and necessary tools for the commentary.
Currently, the Center has provided an automatic commentary service to help visitors proactively learn information content, contributing to improving the quality of the tour. The automatic commentary content is interviews and sharing by experts that will provide visitors with information about history and culture related to each attraction through the standard, emotional voices of native speakers for each language. The commentary content includes 8 languages: Vietnamese, English, French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai. You will have an interesting and unique experience on your own journey when coming to the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam. With the automatic commentary form, visitors can explore the relics themselves without having to depend on others, making them feel more comfortable. This is also a modern form of commentary that not all DTLSVH have.
Tourists' evaluation of tour guide activities is shown in Table 3.4. To visit the relic, tourists can use tour guides.

Evaluation criteria of the information provided by the TMV/HDV is complete and accurate: by nationality, Asian guests are the lowest (2.6). By purpose of visit, guests with research purposes rate the highest (3.3), guests with sightseeing purposes rate the lowest (2.7). By occupation, guests with other occupations rate this activity the lowest (2.7).

Evaluation of the criteria of TMV/HDV guiding tourists in an attractive way: by nationality, European visitors rated the highest at 3.2. By purpose of visit, visitors coming for entertainment rated this content highest (3.4), visitors coming for sightseeing rated the lowest (2.9).
Evaluation of the criteria of tour guides/customers connecting to the exhibits: by nationality, the highest rating is European visitors (3.1), the lowest is Asian visitors (2.6). By the purpose of the visitors, visitors with the main purpose of visiting are rated 2.8, visitors with the purpose of entertainment are rated 3.1.
Evaluation of the language proficiency criteria of TMV/HDV is sufficient to express and describe: by nationality, European guests gave the highest score of 3.4, Asian guests, who made up the majority, gave the lowest score (2.8). By purpose of visit, guests for sightseeing gave the highest score (3.4), guests for research gave the lowest score (2.7).
The average score for the tour guide organization is 2.8, the highest is 3.0. Asian tourists are always the group with the lowest rating while European tourists always have a broader view.
It can be seen that the evaluation of the tour guide activities is also very positive. With many forms of tour guides as present at Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, almost all the needs of tourists to learn about this relic are quite fully met.
3.2.3.3. Festival activities management
At the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam. The typical festival is the spring festival, usually held from the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year. Spring visitors to the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam stroll around Ong Do Street to ask for calligraphy, see calligraphy exhibitions, and talk about spring poems. In Thai Hoc yard, there are performances by amateur and professional artists, actors, musicians, and the Traditional Folk Art Troupe. There are performances of Ca Tru, Xam singing, men's and women's collective Ong dance, Ong Hoang Muoi's singing, Miss Bo, Miss Thuong Ngan... and other performances such as water puppetry, dragon, unicorn, turtle and phoenix dance performances. Every year, a human chess competition is held here for the top players in Hanoi. The activities of offering incense and making offerings before the altar of Confucius and the ancestors in Dai Bai Duong, and the altar of Chu Van An in Thai Hoc house to pray for a good new year and smooth learning are one of the beautiful features, and create a difference in culture and the atmosphere of welcoming Spring in the Capital compared to other places in the country.
