The whole Bac Ninh province has about 1259 relic sites. Of which, as of December 31, 2013, 428 historical and cultural relic sites have been ranked (including 191 relic sites recognized as national relic sites and 237 relic sites recognized as local relic sites).

Of the 428 ranked relics, communal houses, pagodas, and temples are the types that make up the vast majority.

Monuments of typical value such as:


1. Kinh Duong Vuong Mausoleum and Temple - Dai Dong Thanh Commune, Thuan Thanh District (worshiping Nam Bang Thuy To - Kinh Duong Vuong is the father of Lac Long Quan, grandfather of Hung Kings).

2. Cao Lo Vuong Tomb and Temple - Cao Duc Commune, Gia Binh District - Worshiping General Cao Lo of An Duong Vuong's time who made the magic crossbow - He is considered the ancestor of military weapons.

3. Sy Nhiep Tomb - Gia Dong Commune, Thuan Thanh District (worshiping the founder of Nam Giao School - Sy Nhiep).

4. Dang Family Tomb – Phu Hoa Commune, Luong Tai District (Unique stone architecture and art)

5. Ly Bat De Temple - Dinh Bang Ward, Tu Son Town (worshiping eight kings of the Ly Dynasty)...

Bac Ninh's humanistic tourism resources can be summarized and generalized in the seven "ancestors" of Vietnam: Ancestor Pagoda - Nam Bang Thuy To - Nam Giao Hoc To - Quan O Thuy To - Truc Lam Zen Master - Y Thai To - Ancestor of military weapons.

c. Typical traditional festivals


Traditional festivals are typical cultural tourism objects of Bac Ninh province. Up to now, among more than 600 large and small festivals in Bac Ninh province, there are about 40 important festivals, which are maintained and organized annually. Among them, some festivals with special significance and great influence can be mentioned as:

1. Phat Tich Pagoda Festival - Tien Du District is held on the 4th of the first lunar month.

2. Lim Festival (Lim Town, Tien Du District) is held on the 13th of the first lunar month every year, organizing a Quan Ho Bac Ninh folk song singing contest.

3. Ba Chua Kho Temple Festival (Bac Ninh City) is held on the 14th-15th of the first lunar month.

4. Diem - Viem Xa Festival, Bac Ninh city, held on the 7th day of the 2nd lunar month.

5. Do Temple Festival (Dinh Bang - Tu Son Town) to celebrate the coronation of King Ly Thai To - March 15, Canh Tuat year 1010 and commemorate the Ly Dynasty kings.

d. Traditional craft villages


Bac Ninh has long been famous for its many handicrafts with more than 60 different craft villages such as painting, papermaking, forging, bronze casting, mother-of-pearl inlay, carving, weaving, lacquer... These crafts not only enrich the people of Kinh Bac but also contribute significantly to forming the image of "Kinh Bac girls" that when mentioned, people imagine beautiful, capable, resourceful, skillful and good-singing girls.

In general, Bac Ninh's tourism resources are quite rich and valuable, especially the humanistic tourism resources with 7 typical cultural characteristics: Homeland of Quan Ho folk songs - World cultural heritage; spiritual culture; cultural history; festivals; examinations; craft villages and architecture. These are the fundamental values ​​for Bac Ninh tourism.

2.1.5 Tourism performance results

In the period 2004 - 2013, the tourism industry of Bac Ninh province generally achieved certain results. The number of tourists to Bac Ninh tended to increase, the average growth rate reached 20%, exceeding 5-6% compared to the planning target 2001 - 2010 with a vision to 2020.

However, the service at accommodation establishments is still very family-oriented and lacks professionalism. The number of visitors to Bac Ninh increases every year, with the growth rate higher year after year (in 2004, it increased by 25.8%, in 2008, it increased by 14.8%, and in 2013, it increased by 28.9%). However, the length of stay of tourists is still very short, due to poor service and service quality, at a low level that does not meet the needs of tourists.

- International guests :

The number of international tourists to Bac Ninh in recent years (2001 - 2010) has grown strongly, with an average annual increase of 20.16%, but there has not been a big surge like in some other provinces. This confirms that tourist destinations in Bac Ninh still have the ability to attract visitors for a long time, although competition in today's market is becoming increasingly fierce.

According to statistics of the tourism industry in recent years, the number of international visitors to Bac Ninh has grown steadily and stably. Notably, the structure of international visitors in the total number of tourists to Bac Ninh has maintained a fairly stable proportion in the structure of visitors in the whole province (from 3.95% in 2004, to 2005 accounting for 3.99%, to 2010 accounting for 5.38%, in 2013, although the tourism industry was affected by the general economic crisis in the region, it still maintained a level of 4.15% of the total number of tourists). However, the number of international visitors still accounts for a very small proportion.

In the period 2004 - 2008 : Due to clearly defining development goals, during this time, Bac Ninh tourism focused resources on investing in developing infrastructure, technical facilities for tourism as well as investing in developing tourism products, thus attracting a large number of tourists. The number of international tourists also increased sharply, in 2008, international tourists to Bac Ninh reached 3,076 (2.05 times higher than in 2004). The growth rate in the period 2004 - 2008 reached 18.8%/year.

Period 2009 - 2013 : Implementing Resolution No. 06 - NQ/TU dated April 19, 2007 of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of Bac Ninh province, term XVII, on developing trade, tourism and import-export of Bac Ninh province until 2010, the tourism industry of Bac Ninh has actively coordinated with all levels, sectors, organizations, localities in the province and mass media agencies to widely propagate tourism, raise awareness of protecting tourism resources, protecting the tourism environment, creating a vibrant and diverse tourism business market.

Maintaining a stable growth rate since 2009 and 2010, the number of international tourists to Bac Ninh during this period has increased steadily, each year higher than the previous year. In 2009, the whole province welcomed 4,500 international visitors (1.46 times higher than in 2008). After only 5 years of implementing the tourism development program, in 2012, the number of international visitors welcomed 7,796 visitors and in 2013, it welcomed 8,550 international visitors. In 2013, despite the general downward trend of tourism in Vietnam and the region, the number of visitors to Bac Ninh still increased. The average growth rate reached 21.53% per year.

In general, the number of international tourists to Bac Ninh meets the set targets. The basic reason is that the demand of the international tourist market to Vietnam is currently often interested in sea tourism, visiting historical and cultural relics, community tourism and rural tourism..., which are the strengths of Bac Ninh. In addition, with flexible investment attraction policies, in recent times, investment projects in infrastructure development and tourism development have created an advantage for Bac Ninh.

Market analysis results in the past 5 years (2009 - 2013) show that the total number of international tourists to Bac Ninh includes:

Types of tourists classified by purpose of trip : According to data from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh, international visitors to Bac Ninh for spiritual tourism purposes account for 45.5%, for commercial purposes on average account for 13.5%; for the purpose of visiting relatives account for 10%; the rest are for other purposes.

In recent years, tourists with commercial purposes have increased but generally still maintain at 14-15% market share, tourists with other purposes such as research, study, work, sightseeing... tend to increase. Thus, it is necessary to consider the needs, tastes of tourists and future trends to orient the market.

For example, Do Temple tourist attractions, Phat Tich Pagoda, Ba Chua Kho Temple have all the natural conditions to develop spiritual tourism. That is the advantage of Bac Ninh compared to other provinces and other tourist areas.
