2.2. Some basic features of Phong Hoa commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province
2.2.1. Natural resources of Phong Hoa commune
2.2.1.1. Geographical location
Phong Hoa is a low-lying plain commune located in the northeast of Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province, stretching along National Highway 49B and along the banks of the O Lau River. It has a total natural area of 3,489.24 hectares, accounting for 3.68% of the district's total area. The administrative boundaries of the Commune are determined as follows:
- To the North, it borders Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province;
- To the South, it borders Phong Hien commune, Phong Dien district;
- To the West, it borders Phong Thu commune, Phong Dien district;
- To the East, it borders Phong Binh and Phong Chuong communes, Phong Dien district.
2.2.1.2. Terrain
Phong Hoa commune's terrain is relatively flat, with an average elevation of 7.8 m above sea level. It is a plain commune of Phong Dien district, deposited annually by alluvium from the O Lau River. The biggest obstacle of the locality is the dense system of rivers and lakes, which causes the land to be strongly fragmented, creating oases in the central area of the commune.
