7 things to do when you want to quit smoking

Every 5 minutes 1 person dies from cigarettes.

First, remind yourself that smokers die early because their lives are shortened by 1 day every week. Smoking does not make men "mature" or more stable.

If you want to quit smoking, you should:

1. Tell yourself why you want to quit smoking: for your health, for the health of those around you (like your family), to save money...

2. Set a deadline to quit smoking.

3. Make a plan to deal with cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

4. Plan to keep your hands busy: If you miss holding

cigarette in hand, replace cigarette with something else.

5. Get support from family, friends and colleagues: Let them know you are trying to quit so they understand why you are behaving differently. And that way they will not invite you to smoke again.

6. Try to avoid smoking again.

7. Reward yourself: no matter what you do, don't forget to reward yourself regularly for not smoking.

Don't be discouraged if you don't succeed the first time. Most people succeed the next time.
