3.1.9.5. Time spent each time participating in extracurricular sports activities of students

Regarding the duration of each extracurricular sports activity, students mainly spend “<60 minutes” (accounting for 53.8%), second place is “>60 minutes” (accounting for

29.2%). The next positions are “<90 minutes” (13%), “<120 minutes” (3%) and the lowest is “> 120 minutes” (1%).

3.1.9.6. Locations for students to participate in extracurricular sports activities

Overall, as shown in chart 3.15, the locations for extracurricular sports practice of students are mainly located outside the school (58.8%). In contrast, the number of students practicing in the dormitory yard is only 26.2%, and the number practicing in the school yard is even less, only 15%.

The reality of students' need to practice extracurricular sports through statistical results shows that there are up to 16 extracurricular sports that students are interested in and want to participate in. In which, the sports most chosen by students include: "Volleyball" (accounting for 22.7%), "Badminton" (accounting for 11.1%), "Soccer" (accounting for 8.5%), "Table tennis" (accounting for 7.1%), "Shuttle" (accounting for 7.1%).

3.1.9.8. Needs for forms of organizing extracurricular sports activities for students

The research results presented in chart 3.16 show that the needs for extracurricular sports training organization of students are most concentrated in 4 forms: Practice with instructors, Practice with groups, classes; Practice with clubs and Practice by themselves.

Specifically, overall, 53.6% of students want to choose the form "Practice with a Club", 27.2% of students choose "Practice with an instructor", 13.2% of students choose "Practice with a group or class" and only 5.4% of students choose the form "Practice by yourself".

3.1.9.9. Students' interest in participating in extracurricular sports activities

The statistical results show that 37% of students said that they were “Not interested” and 9.6% of students said that they were “Very uninterested” in extracurricular sports training. Only 32.2% of students said that they were “Interested” in training and 14.2% of students said that they were “Very interested” in participating in extracurricular sports training. Thus, the majority of students tend to be uninterested in extracurricular sports training at school.

3.1.9.10. Satisfaction with extracurricular sports activities of students

The survey results show that up to 46.8% of students are “Dissatisfied”, 4.4% of students are “Very dissatisfied” with the extracurricular sports activities organized and practiced. Only 15.4% of students are “Very satisfied”, 22.4% of students are “Satisfied” with extracurricular sports activities at school. Thus, through the statistical results, it shows that the number of students who are dissatisfied with extracurricular sports activities still accounts for a large proportion. This is an issue that managers and teachers need to pay attention to in order to overcome in the process of organizing extracurricular sports activities.

3.1.10. General physical condition of students at Saigon University

Saigon

3.1.10.1. Basis for developing general physical fitness assessment criteria

Student of Saigon University

To develop indicators to assess the general physical fitness of students, the study relied on physical fitness tests according to the standard "Developing new physical training standards for Vietnamese students and pupils" of the Institute of Sports Science, combined with Decision No. 53/2008/QD-BGDDT issued on September 18, 2008 by the Minister of Education and Training on the assessment and classification of general physical fitness of students including the following 6 physical fitness indicators:

- Right hand dynamometer (kg)

- 30m XPC run (seconds)

- Lie on your back and do sit-ups (times/30 seconds)

- Shuttle run 4x10m (seconds)

- Jumping far on the spot (cm)

- Run at your own pace for 5 minutes (m)

The regulation also states that each student is evaluated on 4 out of 6 contents.

above, in which the content of On-the-spot Jumping and 5-minute Free Running are mandatory. For convenience and suitability with the conditions at the School, the study implemented a physical fitness assessment on 4 tests:

- 30m XPC run (seconds)

- Lie on your back and do sit-ups (times/30 seconds)

- Jumping far on the spot (cm)

- Run at your own pace for 5 minutes (m)

3.1.10.2. General physical condition of students at Saigon University

Saigon

The study was conducted to collect physical assessment data of second year students.

Random sample size of 500 students (250 male students and 250 female students). After physical fitness test, the study compared the results with Decision No. 53/2008/QD-BGD&DT of the Ministry of Education and Training on assessment and classification of physical fitness of high school and university students.

The physical fitness assessment of students is based on 4 specific contents: Lying on back with sit-ups (times/30 seconds), Long jump in place (cm), 30m XPC run (seconds), 5-minute free run (m). Students are classified into 3 levels of physical fitness: Good, Achieved, Not achieved.

General physical condition of male students

The results of the general physical fitness test of male students are presented in detail in Table 3.6 below. In which:

- Supine sit-up test (times/30 seconds): Male students had a supine sit-up performance of 16.2 ± 3.15 times. The coefficient of variation Cv was 19.5% >10%, so the sit-up performance of male students was not uniform.

- On-the-spot long jump test (cm): Male student's on-the-spot long jump result is 213.7

±19.36 cm. The coefficient of variation Cv is 9.1% <10%, so the on-the-spot Long Jump performance of male students is consistent.

- 30m XPC running test (seconds): Male students have an average 30m XPC running time of 5.0 ±0.45 seconds. The coefficient of variation Cv is 9.1% <10%, so the 30m XPC running time of male students is consistent.

- 5-minute free run test (m): Male students' 5-minute free run result is 909.1 ±95.28m. The coefficient of variation Cv is 10.6% > 10%, so the 5-minute free run result (m) of male students is not consistent.
