RESEARCH RESULTS

4.1. Assessment of current status and classification of street system of Thai Binh city

Thai Binh City is the economic, cultural, social, scientific, and defense center of the province and is also one of the eight cities in the Northern coastal region. With a total natural area of 6,711 hectares (2013). There are 19 administrative units divided into 10 wards and 9 communes.

According to QCVN-07-2010-BXD on urban traffic classification, according to function and design traffic volume, traffic volume is regulated as follows:

- Interprovincial highway: Serves inter-provincial traffic, high-speed, continuous traffic, high traffic safety, without interruption at intersections.

- Internal roads: include zoning roads, residential group roads, house entrance roads, bicycle roads, internal roads, serving traffic in units, alleys, and houses. Connecting internal roads of the unit with roads outside the residential unit.

- Urban main road: road serving traffic in urban areas, and connecting with urban main roads, connecting central areas, large residential areas, large industrial zones, stations, ports, stadiums, connecting highways and national highways, traffic volume 20,000-50,000 vehicles/hour.

- Inter-regional road: Serving meaningful inter-regional traffic, central industrial zones with each other, connecting with main urban roads

- Regional roads: serving regional traffic of urban districts, connecting the above areas with the main urban roads, traffic volume 10,000-

20,000 vehicles/hour.

From the above regulations on traffic classification, we classify the traffic network of Thai Binh city as follows.

Assessment of Current Status and Classification of Street System of Thai Binh City

- The city's belt road is 11.2km long and 24m wide. This road has not been planned for trees.

- The table shows that the main urban roads include 8 routes with road widths from 7-24m, sidewalks meet standards >3m, but in addition, the sidewalks are still narrow such as Phan Ba Vanh, Le Quy Don, this will cause difficulties in designing and arranging tree planting due to not enough living space for trees.

According to Decision 2762/QD-UBND dated October 7, 2008 of Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee approving the 2020 Transport Master Plan with the following contents: Construction of new routes:

+ National highway: Ninh Binh-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh expressway passes through Thai Binh parallel to National Highway 10, 1.5 to 2km to the North.

+ Provincial road: Road connecting Ha Nam - Thai Binh with Cau Gie - Ninh Binh highway, passing through Thai Binh from upstream of Nhat Tao ferry terminal

+ Railway: Railway through Thai Binh following the route planned by the Ministry of Transport from Nam Dinh to Quang Ninh running parallel to National Highway 10

+ By 2020, the whole province will have 19 bus stations, of which 14 are existing stations, 5 new bus stations will be built, of which Thai Binh City will have 3 new stations: Central bus station, Western bus station in Tan Binh commune, Eastern bus station in Vu Lac commune.

+ The old urban traffic network is renovated and upgraded to meet urban road standards.

Because the city's scope is quite large, I chose to evaluate and research the current status of urban roads, including some main roads and regional roads: Le Loi Street, Tran Hung Dao Street, Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Ly Bon Street, Tran Thai Tong Street, Tran Thanh Tong Street, Le Dai Hanh Street, Quang Trung Street.

4.2. Assess the current status of trees and forms of tree planting organization on streets in Thai Binh city area.

4.2.1. Current status and species composition of street trees

The street tree system is extremely important in the development process of each urban area. In recent years, the new tree system has been invested in planting and caring for, initially creating a new look on some streets. According to the investigation and data provided by the Thai Binh City Urban Environment Tree Company Limited, we have the following table of tree species planted on the streets:
