A Specific Look at Group Attitudes Toward Training in Team Karatedo

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Martial Arts Training Center (which directly manages martial arts), the Judo team is one of the few teams that is considered to have quite strict discipline rules. The connection between coaches and athletes' families in terms of managing time, training schedule, competition, etc. is also done quite well compared to other teams. The recognition from the athletes themselves about " strictly following the team's regulations" once again affirms the discipline in the team. This opinion has an average score of 1.74, is in first place and is classified as very positive.

Sharing the same average score of 1.74 is the opinion “I always try my best to complete each exercise”. The Judo team coach said that grassroots Judo in Ho Chi Minh City is developing quite strongly, is an effective training environment and introduces many bright faces to the team. In each weight class, in addition to the main athlete, there are always 2 to 3 reserve athletes, so the competition is very high. If the performance drops, there will be a replacement immediately. Therefore, self-discipline in training to maintain form and performance is a factor that helps athletes stay on the team and not be eliminated.

In the group of attitudes towards oneself, setting high demands on oneself in training and having clear achievement goals are two factors that rank high in this group (both at a very positive level). These factors help athletes have a benchmark to reach, have clear motivation in training and it also has certain impacts on training.

Another factor worth noting is the last position of the opinion “ I find myself suitable for this sport”, with a very negative level. Muay is a newly established sport, most of the athletes in the current team were invited and recruited from other sports from the early days of its establishment, with quite diverse backgrounds. There are athletes who previously practiced other martial arts, there are also athletes from football teams, athletics... Athletes are selected based on the criteria of having an appearance suitable for the sport, having qualities and passion for the sport. After being selected, new athletes are found

understand the sport, rules, competition methods, specific exercises... This characteristic partly explains the very negative level of this opinion.

During the training process before each tournament (usually about 2 to 3 months), in parallel with training, coaches also study the strength of other teams in each weight class. From this factor combined with their own ability and performance improvement, coaches and athletes can set performance goals for each weight class in each tournament.
