directly on food or processed with other ingredients. In daily life, Ben Tre people often have the habit of adding coconut milk to all dishes. The quintessence of Ben Tre cuisine is coconut milk. Coconut milk is the key ingredient in Ben Tre dishes, especially sweet dishes. Ben Tre people have created many attractive desserts from the combination of coconut milk with ingredients in their gardens such as sweet potatoes, pumpkins, taro, black beans, red beans, cakes such as: coconut cakes, banh tet, coconut cakes, cassava cakes, banh tam bi, banh duc, grilled banana cakes...
- Coconut wine
Ingredients include : Dried coconut, sticky rice wine.
How to prepare : The melon is not too old or too young, peel off the coconut fiber to make it clean and beautiful. Then punch a small round hole on the top of the coconut, right at the coconut eye, because this is the place where the shell is weakest so it is easy to punch. Then pour all the water out of the coconut. The next step is to put the wine into the coconut: put the prepared sticky rice wine, pour it into the coconut, until it is almost full, then use a cork or coconut cork to seal it. To prevent the wine from leaking out and making the coconut shell wet and moldy, you can use 502 glue to drip around the cork. Steps to ferment coconut wine: take a plastic film or plastic bag to cover the outside and leave the coconut in a cool place and ferment the coconut wine for about 30 days before drinking. After fermenting, you can use a drill or lathe to punch a small round hole and insert a tap to pour the wine out.
How to enjoy : It can be said that each specialty of the coconut land is always simple, sweet, simple and gentle like the people here, and so is Coconut Wine. Ben Tre Coconut Wine with the sweet taste of coconut and the slight spicy taste of wine creates the characteristic aroma of the famous coconut wine in the West. With each sip of wine, you will feel the spicy taste and gradually turn to a sweet aftertaste. Even when drinking until the end of the bottle, the feeling of lightness and ecstasy before an irresistible charm remains. The wine has the aroma of yeast, sticky rice and coconut, all of these ingredients blend to give a wonderful feeling when used.
Grapefruit wine
Ingredients include: Grapefruit (should choose green-skinned grapefruit with a sweet taste, slightly sour when soaked will be very delicious) and white sugar or rock sugar, glass jar for soaking wine.
How to prepare : First, you need to prepare the grapefruit as you would with sugar. Next, arrange the grapefruit pulp and grapefruit segments in a jar of wine, one layer of grapefruit and one layer of sugar. Then pour in the wine to soak together. Every 10 days, mix the ingredients in the jar well. How to enjoy : After 30 days of soaking, you can take it out to use. The jar of grapefruit wine should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and not in the refrigerator. Ben Tre green-skin grapefruit wine has the effect of quenching thirst and also aiding digestion, laxative and diuretic.
- Phu Le Wine
Ingredients include: firm glutinous rice, yeast made from 36 different northern and southern medicinal herbs and Phu Le well water.
How to prepare : Cook sticky rice: soak sticky rice for a sufficient amount of time, then drain and cook into sticky rice. Be careful to add just enough water so that the sticky rice is not too mushy, not too dry or burnt. Pour the sticky rice into a tray, let it cool, knead it and mix it with yeast thoroughly. Then take the sticky rice and yeast mixture to ferment in a ceramic jar for about 7 to 10 days. Bring the fermented sticky rice and wine mixture to cook under a moderate flame to get genuine Phu Le wine.
How to enjoy : Used directly, wine is often used in holidays, entertaining distinguished guests. Phu Le wine is a famous wine of Ben Tre province, Phu Le wine has a strong, delicious and strong wine flavor. Phu Le wine is delicious thanks to yeast, village water wells, and sticky rice grown on the land of Phu Le - Ba Tri. The sticky rice is grown on this land and especially thanks to the fermentation of sticky rice in tins that are hundreds of years old, creating the unique flavor of Phu Le wine that cannot be found anywhere else.
