Testing the Urgency and Feasibility of Measures to Manage Geography Teaching Activities

* Increase financial support for teachers and students to make their own teaching aids

Organize inspection and review of the current status of facilities and teaching equipment (TBDH) to have a plan for timely repair and supplementation according to the list of minimum TBDH of the Ministry (Circular No. 15/2009/TT-BGDDT dated July 16, 2009), effectively exploit and use the equipment set.

The minimum teaching aids as prescribed have been equipped. Schools need to do a good job of preserving and checking and identifying the number of damaged or lost teaching aids for the subject of Geography to have a plan for repairing and supplementing them. Continue to promote the movement of teachers and students making their own teaching aids for the subject of Geography through activities of renewing, improving and repairing teaching aids; collect and select good products to serve the teaching of Geography.

Schools continue to provide additional textbooks, teachers, and reference books for the missing subjects; consolidate and invest in facilities to strive to achieve advanced and excellent libraries.

Exploiting support resources to enhance modern teaching equipment, teaching equipment for the subject of Mathematics with information technology elements, teaching software (such as video discs, life skills education video discs...)

* Enhance interdisciplinary lesson design

In general, in the world, many countries tend to integrate subjects in the field of social sciences such as History, Geography, Civic Education... to create new subjects, with the form of interdisciplinary integration and cross-subject integration. The second trend is to implement the integration perspective but not create new subjects. Managers direct the coordination between the subject of Civic Education and other subjects to build interdisciplinary lesson plans.

Instruct and encourage teachers to coordinate with teachers in other subjects to design model lessons with interdisciplinary knowledge content. Teachers must focus on the relationship between students and teaching content and consider this the most basic and important relationship in the class mechanism. To do so, teachers must give up their roles and functions.

Traditional ability is to convey available knowledge to students, but students cannot maintain the habit of listening to lectures, taking notes, memorizing, and then "writing" in the way of reproducing and copying, gradually losing the ability to think in writing, the ability to read by themselves, to research, to process information, and to organize knowledge creatively.

* Coordinate with organizations to organize extracurricular activities in Geography for students: Organizations in the school actively organize extracurricular activities for students in many different forms.

The Youth Union is responsible for talking about major holidays during the flag-raising ceremony once a month in many different forms. Thereby creating a playground for students and also consolidating knowledge and reviewing the traditions and achievements of previous generations through major holidays to educate and arouse national pride in students, so that they have the awareness to strive to study and practice. The teachers' union organizes a contest on interdisciplinary knowledge for students of each grade.

Through flag-salute activities, a number of related subjects propagated Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on the campaign "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, style and morality" , the campaign "Every teacher is a model of morality, self-study and creativity " and the campaign "Two no's"

* Geography teachers coordinate with homeroom teachers to comment and evaluate students at the end of the year.

Direct and encourage teachers to monitor and evaluate students' progress in the learning and training process. At the same time, guide teachers to create forms to monitor students' progress.

Direct and encourage the homeroom teacher and the homeroom teacher to coordinate in monitoring and evaluating students' progress at the end of the semester and year.

* Coordinate with parents to promote learning awareness for students

Organize propaganda to raise awareness of parents at Parent-Teacher Conferences. Report periodic learning results to parents through contact forms.

Communicate, use the educational network to report results regularly to parents. Through that, coordinate with parents to manage students' learning.

* Pay attention to the material and spiritual life of Geography teachers, encourage and promptly reward teachers and students with good achievements in teaching and learning Geography.

Managers need to pay attention, talk, share, encourage and motivate teachers to overcome difficulties at work, constantly be creative and strive to improve teaching achievements.

Always be close and pay attention to listening to the thoughts, aspirations, and legitimate feelings of students through direct dialogues, build a suggestion box to collect students' feedback, build a diligent and honest lifestyle for students, create multi-faceted relationships for students to help them improve and develop their personalities, strengthen relationships with students' families and the community to educate students. Timely propose to leaders necessary measures to create an encouraging teaching environment to help students improve their knowledge, practice skills, and be passionate about learning well.

The issue of caring for poor and good students has been of concern to organizations and unions, creating more confidence in life and motivating them to be passionate about studying, thereby improving the quality of the subject.

Regularly motivate, encourage, reward and grant scholarships in a timely manner to teachers and students with good achievements in teaching and learning the subject of Law. Introduce teachers and students with outstanding achievements to participate in Party target classes and propose timely admission to the Party to motivate and encourage teachers and students to strive harder in teaching, learning and training activities.

* Promote applied pedagogical research activities in Geography, increase organization for Geography teachers to research topics on innovative teaching methods.

Organize conferences, seminars and encourage teachers to conduct scientific research, summarize practices, and create initiatives and experiences on innovative teaching methods and innovation.

new KTDG, conduct research projects to serve the teaching activities of the subject of Geography, evaluate the effectiveness of teaching Geography to widely disseminate, apply IT in teaching, self-train to improve professional capacity.

3.3. Survey the necessity and feasibility of measures

The groups of measures that we have proposed are the result of a process of research, summarization, and experience from the practice of managing the teaching activities of the subject of Physics at high schools in Vinh Long city. After building a system of groups of measures, we conducted a test of the necessity and feasibility of the proposed measures for the target group of managers and teachers of Physics working at high schools in Vinh Long city. All the collected forms were fully recorded with opinions, the results were summarized in the table.

From table 3.1, it can be seen that the levels of "necessity" and "feasibility" are both achieved (the level of necessity ranges from 2.92 to 3.28 and the level of feasibility ranges from 2.70 to very feasible 3.33).

The group of measures to manage teaching activities of teachers of the subject of Geography is assessed at the level of "necessity" and "feasibility" both reaching high (the level of necessity is from 3.09 to 3.22 points and the level of feasibility is from 3.19 points to the very feasible level of 3.33 points). Thus, in the work of managing teaching activities of Geography in high schools, it is necessary to effectively manage the teaching activities of teachers.

In the group of measures to manage teachers' teaching activities, the measure with the highest rating in terms of urgency (Average = 3.22) and feasibility (Average = 3.32) is the measure to manage the implementation of the teaching program. The remaining measures are also rated at the urgent and feasible levels. The results of this survey hope to help managers in high schools have a more effective plan to manage the teaching activities of the subject of geography in their units by developing plans, directing and organizing the implementation of the management of the teaching activities of teachers of geography in a serious and thorough manner.

The test results ranked the management of students' learning activities in the subject of Geography as both "necessary" and "feasible" at the second highest level (the very necessary level was from 2.97 to 3.28 points and the very feasible level was from 2.80 to 3.30 points). Students' learning activities are always closely linked to teachers' teaching activities. Therefore, managing students' learning activities always goes hand in hand with managing teachers' teaching activities. The measure that was rated the highest at the urgent level with GPA = 3.28 is the measure to promote students' dynamism and positivity in learning Geography.

The group of measures “improving cognitive capacity” ranked third, with both “necessity” and “feasibility” assessed (necessity scores ranged from 3.09 to 3.14 and feasibility scores ranged from 3.05 to 3.22). This is a task that must be carried out regularly and long-term.

The group of measures to manage support conditions is also assessed as both "necessary" and "feasible" (the necessary level is from 2.9 to 3.11 points and the feasible level is from 2.70 to 3.25 points). The training activities as well as the management of training activities cannot lack supporting factors. Among the above measures, attention should be paid to
