And therefore, many issues surrounding the war have been clarified. However, the topic of guerrilla warfare in Binh Dinh during the resistance war against the US to save the country has not been systematically studied. Reviewing the research works on this topic, it can be divided into two groups as follows.

1.1 Overview of Binh Dinh province

1.1.1 Geographical location, natural conditions, socio-economic conditions.

Binh Dinh is a relatively large province, located in the South Central region. With an area of about 6,025 km 2 stretching from latitude 13 0 03 ' to 14 0 42 ' north (length 110 km), 108 0 36 ' to 109 0 22 ' east (average width 55 km). The north borders Quang Ngai separated by Binh De pass, the south borders Phu Yen separated by Cu Mong pass, the west borders Gia Lai through Mang Giang pass and the east borders the East Sea.

According to historical records, from ancient times Binh Dinh was a land belonging to the Champa kingdom. At the end of the 10th century and the beginning of the 11th century, the Champa king decided to move the capital from Quang Nam to Do Ban citadel (in An Nhon district, Binh Dinh province today). For about 5 centuries, as the capital of the Champa nation, many symbolic marks of Cham cultural values were left in Binh Dinh, typically the system of citadels, temples, stele, statues, etc.

In 1471, the army of King Le Thanh Tong defeated the Vijaya kingdom, establishing the border of Dai Viet nation to Thach Bi mountain (Phu Yen), from here Binh Dinh became a territory of Dai Viet. From here, the name and territory of this land changed many times over time. Under King Le Thanh Tong, Binh Dinh was called Hoai Nhon prefecture, including 3 districts: Bong Son, Phu Ly and Tuy Vien (including the territory of An Khe district and Chu Bang district of Gia Lai province today) belonging to Quang Nam province (ie Thua Tuyen province at that time). Under the rule of the Nguyen lords, the name of the province changed many times. In 1602, Hoai Nhon prefecture was changed to Quy Nhon. In 1651, it was changed to Quy Ninh. In 1742, Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat took back the name Quy Nhon. In 1802, Nguyen
