3.7 ADVANTAGES AND DIFFICULTIES WHEN DEPLOYING IPTV SERVICES IN BAC NINH

3.7.1 Advantages

* Bac Ninh's geographical location is very favorable for developing IPTV services.

* Bac Ninh is a key economic region, the economic life of the people is high so the need to develop IPTV service is very necessary.

* Ability to integrate television with other IP services such as high-speed Internet access and VOIP. IP networks also allow for more information and more functionality. In traditional satellite or broadcast television, all content is delivered continuously to each subscriber, who switches channels at the set top box. Subscribers can choose from a variety of options such as satellite, cable, and telecommunications companies to bring the information stream home. IP networks work differently, content is kept on the network and only the content the user selects is sent to the subscriber's home. This saves bandwidth and the user's choice is less limited by the "pipe" leading to the subscriber's home, which means more privacy for the user than with traditional satellite and broadcast systems.

* IPTV systems allow viewers the opportunity to watch TV programs in a more interactive and personal way. For example, service providers can provide interactive functions that allow viewers to select content by movie title or actor name, or picture in picture functions that allow viewers to change channels without leaving the program they are watching. Users can also access their photo albums and music stores on their PCs from the TV screen, use their phones to schedule recordings of their favorite TV programs, and they can also use the control monitoring function to prohibit their children from watching certain inappropriate programs.

* VoD allows users to browse an online program or a list of movies to watch and then select them.

3.7.2 Difficulty

* During the service deployment process, the biggest difficulty encountered is signal quality, high possibility of data loss and signal transmission delay. If the user's network connection is not really good and does not have enough bandwidth, watching the program will be very jerky or changing channels can cost quite a lot.

Time to download. The inter-provincial optical cable system (VTN) runs underground, so the optical cable is often broken, leading to signal loss for MyTV subscribers due to poor ringing ability between businesses. In addition, when the provider's server is not strong enough, when the number of viewers accessing is large, the service quality is also reduced.

* Financial difficulties as well as in handling technology on the user side instead of buying an antenna with a price of around 50,000 VND to install on the TV, IPTV requires more equipment, not to mention the service cost and usage is also more complicated than simply turning on and off. Besides, the requirement for ADSL transmission must reach over 300b/s while households often choose cheap service packages with speeds of only 1/3.

3.8 SOME PROPOSALS FOR EFFECTIVE DEPLOYMENT OF IPTV SERVICE PROVIDING NETWORK IN BAC NINH

- Use the technical infrastructure of VNPT Bac Ninh to avoid wasting telecommunications bandwidth, internet broadband, and avoid overlapping investment in network infrastructure. To fully utilize the copper cable network, it is necessary to re-plan the network appropriately and at the same time improve network quality.

- Reduce congestion on IPTV transmission network

- Manage Qos and QoE services to improve IPTV service quality

- IPTV traffic prioritization

- It is necessary to soon develop a roadmap for deploying the IPTV NGN network and putting IP STB devices into widespread use.

CONCLUSION AND DIRECTIONS FOR THE TOPIC DEVELOPMENT

IPTV is a technology that transmits digital images to users based on the Internet protocol. With the superiority of interaction between viewers and value-added services, IPTV can completely change traditional television viewing habits because it not only allows users to watch programs, but also allows audiences to actively choose the content they want to watch. With IPTV, users can access the most advanced services on broadband such as watching TV directly via the Internet (Live TV), shopping via TV, karaoke, games (online games), information magazines, video phones, training via TV, TV Mail, TV Photo, voting via TV, predicting via TV, instant messaging (IM), advertising... Currently, IPTV has been widely deployed across the country and is considered a major source of revenue for service providers in the near future. With the trend of converging services in the telecommunications industry with IPTV as the pinnacle, we can believe in a bright future for IPTV services. After a period of research and study with the guidance of Ms. Tran Thi Tra Vinh, I completed the project "Learning about IPTV technology and implementation solutions at VNPT Bac Ninh".

Topic development direction:

Calculate and design the HEADEND system to ensure the required number and type of channels.

Calculate frequency allocation for IPTV channels to avoid interference between channels to provide efficient and quality IPTV signal delivery.

To ensure good television quality, it is necessary to continue researching the issues of QoS and QoE.

Although I have tried, due to limited time and level, the project is inevitably flawed. I look forward to receiving comments from teachers and friends to continue to improve and research the topic more deeply. I sincerely thank you.
