Developing spiritual tourism in the western region of Hanoi - 1

INTRODUCTION

1. Reason for choosing the topic

In recent years, with the attention of the Party and the State, the innovation of foreign policy, with the trend of international economic integration, Vietnam's tourism industry has also had strong developments and increasingly has a positive impact on many areas of economic and social life. Tourism is considered a key economic sector in the country's economic development strategy.

The Red River Delta in particular and the Northern region in general have long been recognized as the cradle of the country's culture with a history of thousands of years with long-standing cultural values and a rich and diverse system of tourism resources. In particular, this region is also the first place where Buddhism was introduced to Vietnam, so it can be said that the North and the Red River Delta are considered to have the most potential for spiritual tourism.

Recognizing the important role of spiritual tourism activities in the development of the tourism industry in particular and the development of Vietnam's socio-economy in general, the Party and the State have considered tourism development, including the development of spiritual tourism trends, as one of the main strengths in the economic development strategy. However, in the process of building and developing the country's socio-economy in recent years, many new factors have emerged that have had a great impact on spiritual tourism activities. Especially after Vietnam joined the WTO, we have joined a globalized network with the risk that foreign cultures will enter and assimilate our culture. This places on the shoulders of those working in tourism, especially those working in cultural tourism, the responsibilities before new opportunities and challenges, requiring appropriate plans and solutions to develop the tourism industry quickly, effectively and sustainably, so that tourism in general and spiritual tourism truly become one of the

key economic factors, ensuring the transmission to future generations of traditional Vietnamese cultural values.

Hanoi is a land of thousands of years of civilization, the political, economic - cultural - social center of the whole country. When talking about Hanoi, people will immediately think of the land where many historical relics, religious relics, and beliefs of high value converge such as the Temple of Literature, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Thang Long Tu Tran... Especially since August 1, 2008, when Ha Tay province merged into Hanoi, the number of historical, religious and belief relics of Hanoi became the largest in the country (Hanoi ranks first in the country in the number of Vietnamese relics with 3,840 relics out of a total of nearly 40,000 Vietnamese relics, including 1,164 relics out of a total of nearly 3,500 national relics in Vietnam). In addition, the capital also has thousands of traditional festivals taking place all year round. With these conditions, spiritual tourism has become an important type of tourism in Hanoi. Although Hanoi’s spiritual tourism resources are currently the most abundant in the country, they have not been fully researched and spiritual tourism products have not been effectively exploited. Research projects on spiritual tourism activities in the capital Hanoi have not been able to fully and thoroughly address them…

On that basis, despite the limited amount of knowledge, but with a passion for scientific research and the help and support from lecturers and experts in the field of spiritual tourism, the author decided to choose the topic: "Developing spiritual tourism in the western region of Hanoi" . Although there are still many shortcomings, this will be a source of documents for other authors to refer to and continue to develop and perfect the spiritual tourism activities of the western region of Hanoi in particular and of the capital Hanoi in general.
