Marketing planning is simply an outline of everything that is important for Library marketing activities. This helps specific tasks in marketing activities to be carried out consistently, on track and successfully. The marketing plan was created by NUI Lib staff with the following main contents:
- Investor positioning: Based on the results of market segmentation, determine the target audience.

- Marketing objectives: Objectives to be achieved after the marketing campaign is implemented.
- Participants: Responsible officers/departments and designated or invited officers/departments and individuals. There is a specific assignment of tasks for each individual and department.
- Budget: Estimate the budget needed for marketing campaign activities in accordance with the Library's budget.
- Analyze the target audience: Analyze the characteristics (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, challenges...) of the library and its products and services using the SWOT model.
- Marketing and approaching activities: This is the most important activity and the surface of marketing campaigns. Come up with ideas for marketing and approaching activities to achieve the set goals. NUI Lib always organizes rich and diverse activities suitable for users such as: Exhibitions, fairs, conferences, seminars, seminars, combined tour programs, parties, festivals, leaflets, billboards, increasing visibility on websites or media, organizing clubs...
2.1.2.3 Implement marketing plan with promotion and community outreach
NUI Lib conducts market segmentation and builds and implements marketing plans for each market segment.
Based on the provided funding, marketing staff coordinate with relevant individuals/groups/organizations. In addition to activities organized specifically for each campaign such as festivals, events, fairs, parties..., basically, marketing activities at NUI Lib aim to approach and provide information to each target group of investors through the following main and regular activities:
a) For full-time university students

- Wifi is always on everywhere to ensure convenience for a large number of readers to use.
- The Library and Information Services Desk is always ready to support and answer all questions from readers.
- Self-service options are always tried to provide maximum for students where possible, but if readers need assistance, staff are always ready to help in the spirit of "We are always happy to serve".
- Professional librarians have expertise in many fields and topics and are always ready to support and guide readers.

The organization shall inform new students as early as possible about the Library's resources, facilities and services.
- Schedule regular tours and training during the school year.

b) Part-time students

Full-time technical support staff from the Disability Support Unit are available to assist at NUI Lib.
Additional services available to students registered with the Disability Support Unit include:
- Technology support area where disabled readers can use computers, study spaces and audio-visual materials booths.

d) Postgraduate students

The Hardiman Building is a major research centre within NUI Galway. The Library’s research services provide a wealth of resources and vital research skills for students.
The library can promote students' publications or research through the Open Access Publishing Source on the University Repository, ARAN.
The library provides this group of readers with consulting and training services in bibliometrics, helping to increase the impact of research.
Create maximum conditions for readers to access and exploit documents: Books, magazines, electronic resources, databases and special collections.
Through the Library, readers can contact and receive support from specialized librarians.
The library offers an interlibrary loan service that allows patrons to access any print materials other than NUI Lib.
Open training courses to improve research information management skills, guide the use of reference management and citation software, create document lists, even audio citation, and improve referencing skills.
Provides access to leading electronic repositories of information and technology.
Key activities and strategies:
The library arranges and promotes direct contact between graduate students and specialized librarians and research support staff.
Implement and promote research support services within the university research community:
- Strengthen contact and information between the Library and research staff and departments in the school.
- Strengthen coordination with school principals, department heads and research institutes.
- Contact and create communication channels with new students, maintain relationships with old students.
- Promote the development of information research skills in universities.
- Develop archives, collections and research materials.
- Organize activities and events to introduce and survey graduate students through forms such as talks, seminars, exhibitions at exhibition spaces and conference rooms in the Hardiman building.
- Increase the organization of exhibitions, seminars and events aimed at the student and graduate student community.
- Organize specialized libraries and research services at student fairs and other events.
e) Readers using Irish
Information provided:
The Library fulfils its commitments under the Official Languages Act 2003 NUI Galway Language Scheme 2012-2015. Accordingly, the Library will respond in Irish to all correspondence written in Irish.
Use Irish in:
- Library and Information Services Desk
- Special collections and archives
- Specialist support groups for readers of the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Celtic Studies, including the University Institute of Ireland.
