Vietnamese folk songs from 1945 to present from the perspective of public opinion - 6

At the same time, it contributes to increasing the value of encouragement and motivation for the masses.

Besides the issue of porters serving the battlefield, the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers is also a content that receives much attention from the masses. This is a familiar image in the resistance wars of the nation, a force playing a key role in the fight against invaders for independence for the country, people who have won the love, respect and pride of the people. Most of the folk songs about Uncle Ho's soldiers have won the praise of the masses, because these are heroes of the era, the best sons of the nation who have devoted their youth, strength and intelligence to the cause of the nation:

Brothers determined to go to war and only return after success

When we leave, remember to hold hands and swear.

Determined to do it, not empty-handed.

The highest is the Tam Tuong mountain.

We can still overcome the clover forest. In the past, both Japan and the West

I can still fight, so what's there to be afraid of?

The image of Uncle Ho's soldier appears in a genuine, rustic, simple, very ordinary but still proud and extraordinary look:

Westerners should not rely on their long bodies.

We are small but tougher than you!

Westerners, don't rely on your fat to turn you around. If you stay up two shifts, you'll be exhausted!

We've been up for four nights.

Eat porridge three meals, run nineteen kilometers, just now meet you

I still have enough strength to make you surrender to me!

Miss Mo, Miss Man, Miss Dao, the three nurses are all beautiful.

The three girls took care of the wounded soldiers. They asked, "What do you want?"

There is milk and tea here.

Chicken porridge, stewed chicken meat…” The wounded soldier said: “I really crave it.

I crave to go to the front, because I crave to… fight the French!”.

Le Kim

Such evidence shows that this is the image that captured the entire attention of public opinion during the period of resistance against the French from 1945 to 1954 and is also the object that always receives the sympathy, response, trust and praise of the masses. Until now and in the future, the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers will forever shine in the minds of every Vietnamese person.

In addition to the above contents, a political content that attracted public attention during the period 1945 - 1954 was the issue of land revolution. This became a "hot" issue and was the subject of many literary genres, many art forms and folk songs of this period did not ignore an issue that received much public attention.

What is special is that in this content area, public opinion is expressed very frankly and clearly about a policy of the Party and State because this policy is closely linked to the interests of millions of Vietnamese people who were born in Vietnam.

From land, fields, their lives from birth to death are never far from every inch of land.

The new land revolution gave the Government full support for the people.

… The barbaric bandits, accustomed to greed, the decree does not forgive.

From the perspective of a folk song, the attitude that the masses and public opinion reflect is the agreement and support for a correct policy of the government, the consensus and response to the government's policy because this action has put the interests of the people first, stood on the side of the people, "defended the people" and is completely in line with the people's wishes. At the same time, public opinion also expressed indignation and indignation at the "greedy" and "barbaric" behavior of the landlords and colonialists - those who trampled on the lives of the people. And the worthy outcome that they must receive is the punishment of the government, of the new government - the government of the people:

Straight hand

…Reduction of rent, decree issued

You refused to reduce it and tried to threaten the person you lent you with ten times the amount.

Let the fields be flat, but then demand to withdraw the buffaloes. I have plowed them all, deep and shallow.

You sit ready to squeeze and knead my bones. I work hard in the sun and rain.

You changed the sign, replaced the robber's letter, I was hungry and built the dike.

The rice is good, but you increase the tax.

You do not obey Uncle Ho

Evading public works, resisting taxes, joining the reactionary traitors.

You used to be a messenger and a gentleman.

With the West protecting you, with the mandarins defending you, now you are weak again.

Hugging the empire's feet, aiming to betray the people, your crime is clear in ten parts.

Today the whole village farmers mobilized, the evil tyrants were clearly revealed.

We are ready to fight you!

After the land reform, the policies brought by the Party and the Government have changed the face of the Vietnamese countryside as well as agricultural production in the countryside. Agricultural production is now organized, everyone contributes to growing crops and increasing production. Public opinion on this issue has clearly expressed its support and welcome for these positive changes.

This was the period connecting the two resistance wars against the French and the Americans. From 1954 to 1975, the liberated North was building socialism, serving as a solid rear base to serve the South in continuing the resistance war against the Americans. Public opinion in folk songs during this period mainly revolved around collective issues, issues that played a key role in the life of the country.

One of the prominent issues in this period is patriotism, hatred of the enemy and the spirit of fighting, competing to kill the enemy and gain merit. This is the main idea in Vietnamese literature for many centuries, especially in the period when the country is at war, this idea is more highly regarded than ever. It becomes boiling, surging, burning in the enthusiasm of every patriotic Vietnamese citizen. Our nation has a tradition of patriotism for thousands of years, that spirit has permeated the hearts of every Vietnamese person and has become the identity of the Vietnamese nation, the Vietnamese people. Social opinion in folk songs of this period truly and vividly reflects that noble spirit:

Bury the American puppets

"Lonely as the Sam mountain,

As calm as the surface of the Oloan lagoon" Since the American invaders came,

Mount Sam is on fire, O-loan waves are surging.

My hometown has guns and knives in hand, deep swamps as pits, high mountains as tombs.

Bury the American puppet thugs,

Bury evil plots, destroy cunning tricks.

When America and its puppets are defeated, Sam Mountain will be cool and Oloan will be peaceful...

The voice of public opinion here is the common aspiration and heart of the people, therefore, most of the folk songs on this topic are full of the strong determination to fight the enemy, the indomitable and resilient fighting spirit. Patriotism seethes in the blood of everyone, from old men and women, from husbands to wives, to couples in love, young men and women, all classes of people, regardless of their profession, all devote themselves to the resistance, all enthusiastically participate in contributing their efforts to the nation's fight.

Fighting the enemy is no longer a battlefront reserved only for young men. Patriotism and hatred for the enemy have urged even the elderly to want to rush in:

I am not old

The old man discussed with the old woman:

- She stays home to take care of the baby today, I'll go out and shoot the plane.

Tomorrow I will take turns holding her.

She said: "You are so clever!"

You stay home and take care of the baby today, I'll go out and shoot the plane,

Last night I practiced shooting the hand I was craving.

Or:

Sir! Think about it: Your hair is also turning grey on your head.

He said: "I have old hair and beard, but when it comes to fighting the Americans, I'm not old!"

Manh Chinh

Bao Ninh's old mother

Amidst the rumbling of bombs and guns, the ferry still rowed on the Nhat Le River.

In the middle of the ocean, the waves are crashing and roaring, The waves seem to rush up and chase the boat.

Sending the troops across the peaceful shore, How beautiful is the image of our motherland.

How many times the ferry comes and goes,

Mention mother Suot, Ha hamlet, Bao Ninh.

Nguyen Van Dinh

(Literature and Arts, No. 105 – April 30, 1965)

The gunman, the woman who was used to cooking and housework still fought the Americans very well:

Hand in hand gun

The plane alarm sounded loudly. The gunman immediately rushed out to the bunker.

American planes fired at close range,

Put the child in the bunker, load the bullets and shoot immediately. The sky is surrounded by fire.

American enemy planes rolled and tumbled.

The poplar trees rustled in the wind, I went in with a gun in my hand to cook rice.

Nguyen Dinh Cu (Poetry of soldiers of Inter-zone 4)

The saleswoman made a feat of "feeding the enemy with bullets":

Carrying bullets

What burden is covered with leaves?

I thought the merchant came here to sell goods. When I was hungry, I was absent-minded.

I asked her if she had any cakes or goods to sell. She smiled, her teeth white:

“I only sell my goods to Americans!” I heard the news of the enemy last night,

That's right, the one thousand six fell to this ground.

Ask the pilot:

"Is the guerrilla cake good this morning?"

Nguyen Khac Lanh

In combat, in labor, a common will, a common heart brought the couple together as husband and wife:

Should be husband and wife

I love you, I send coal

I gave him the gun and he took it upstairs. Looking at each other, the clouds and mountains were wistful.

Your eyes sparkle like a tilted moon. Do you know the love story of the gun?

A matchmaker can also make a couple.
