INTRODUCTION
1. Reason for choosing the topic
Education is a form of social consciousness, it has a particularly important position in human life. Education is not only a product of society but has become a positive factor, a driving force promoting the development of human society. The product of Education is people, people are a great and invaluable resource that brings prosperity to each country.
In the period of promoting industrialization and modernization of the country and international integration, Vietnamese human resources are becoming more and more important, deciding the success of the country's development. Education has an important task in building a new generation of Vietnamese people, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development.
The goal of secondary education is stated in Article 27 of the 2005 Law on Education: "Lower secondary education aims to help students consolidate and develop the results of primary education; have general education at the basic level and initial understanding of techniques and career orientation to continue studying in high school, intermediate school, vocational training or entering the working life" [34].
In recent years, general education in our country in general and secondary education in particular have been constantly developing. The quality of education has changed. The level of understanding and ability to access new knowledge of a part of students has been improved. Besides the above achievements, education in secondary schools still faces some problems, including the problem of managing teaching and learning activities (T&L) of subjects.
Each subject in general schools with the characteristics of each subject but must contribute to comprehensively training students. In which History has a very important position, is the subject that provides students with knowledge of historical science, about World History and National History. The subject of the subject is the past that has happened, cannot be reproduced and cannot be vividly visualized. Teaching history is to educate cultural traditions, educate ideology, emotions, moral awareness to form students' personalities. History education has a special role in the longevity and prosperity of the nation.
During the years of preparation for the August Revolution, Uncle Ho advised:
"Our people must know our history,
"To show the origin of the Vietnamese nation" [ 26] .
The above teaching of President Ho Chi Minh contains a very profound meaning about the significance and role of history. Thanks to history, we know the origin of the nation, know the process of building and defending the country with the glorious feats, the brilliant golden pages of history of previous generations. Studying history, knowing history will also foster in each of us the love for the homeland, the spirit of national pride, thereby strengthening the will, courage, training, striving to rise up in building and defending the Fatherland.
However, in recent times, the quality of teaching History in general schools has not achieved the desired results, due to the one-way, imposed teaching method that creates passive learning for learners, limits the development of flexible, independent and creative thinking qualities, and the ability to apply acquired knowledge and skills into practice of learners is still weak. With the development of media, in the context of integration, expanding communication, especially the Internet, students are receiving many diverse and rich sources of information from many different historical sources. They are more knowledgeable, flexible and practical than previous generations of the same age, especially middle school students, so traditional teaching methods are no longer suitable. In learning, students are not satisfied with the role of passive recipients, do not accept one-way teaching activities. Therefore, innovation in the management of History teaching activities is extremely necessary along with innovation in the objectives and content of textbooks, especially innovation in the management of History teaching activities in the experiential direction that schools are implementing.
Dong Trieu Town, Quang Ninh Province is a locality with many historical relics associated with national history and local culture. However, in reality, in recent years, the management of History teaching activities in Dong Trieu Town secondary schools, especially the management of History teaching content and programs in the direction of practical experience in the locality, still has limitations and inadequacies, failing to meet the requirements of current innovation in secondary education.
Based on the above, we chose the issue of "Managing experiential teaching of History in secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province" as the topic of our thesis research with the hope of contributing to improving the quality of teaching History in secondary schools in the town.
2. Research purpose
Based on theoretical research and practical management of teaching History subject in the direction of experience in secondary schools, the thesis proposes some measures to manage teaching History subject in the direction of experience in secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province to meet the requirements of educational innovation in the current period.
3. Research subjects and objects
- Research object: Teaching History subject in the experiential direction at Dong Trieu town secondary school, Quang Ninh province.
- Research object: Managing the teaching of History subject according to the experience of Principals of secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province.
4. Research limitations of the topic
- Regarding content: The topic focuses on researching and proposing some measures to manage teaching History in the experiential direction at secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province.
- Regarding the survey subjects: Including 185 people, including: 10 managers, 75 teachers and 100 students.
- Regarding the survey area: The survey was conducted at 5 secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province: Nguyen Du Secondary School, Hung Dao Secondary School, Le Hong Phong Secondary School, Binh Khe Secondary School, Duc Chinh Secondary School in the last 3 school years (2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018).
5. Scientific hypothesis
Teaching History in the experiential direction at secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province still has limitations and shortcomings such as: Not being highly practical, not creating interest in learning for students. There are many reasons leading to the above situation, including the reasons from the management side, therefore, if proposing and implementing synchronous measures to manage teaching History in the experiential direction suitable to the practical situation, the quality of teaching History in secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province will be improved.
6. Research tasks
6.1. Research on theoretical basis of managing teaching History subject in the experiential direction in secondary school.
6.2. Survey and evaluate the current situation of teaching History, managing teaching History in the experiential direction at secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province.
6.3. Proposing some measures to manage teaching History subject in the experiential direction at secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province.
7. Research methods
The topic uses a combination of the following research methods:
7.1. Theoretical research methods group
Analyze, synthesize and systematize documents and texts related to teaching History and Managing History teaching in the direction of creative experience in secondary schools to build a theoretical framework for the topic.
7.2. Group of practical research methods
a) Observation method: Observing the experiential teaching management measures of History subject of the Principals of secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province.
b) Interview method: Conduct interviews and consult with a number of experts and managers of the Department of Education and Training of Dong Trieu town, interview managers and teachers of secondary schools about teaching and managing the teaching of History in an experiential manner to supplement practical information for the thesis.
c) Questionnaire survey method: Design questionnaires for managers and teachers of secondary schools. To find out the current situation of experiential teaching management of History in secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province.
d) Research method of activity products: Research management decisions, written documents, activity plans, summary reports on management of teaching History in the experiential direction of Principals of secondary schools in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province.
e) Expert method: Consult with experts, discuss with managers to collect necessary information related to the topic.
g) Exploratory method: Survey and explore a number of measures to confirm the urgency and feasibility of proposed measures.
7.3. Methods of data processing using mathematical statistics
Use some mathematical formulas such as percentage and average to process practical survey results.
8. Thesis structure
In addition to the Introduction; Conclusion, Recommendations; References and Appendix, the thesis content is presented in 3 chapters:
