Learn Zen Interior Design

When it comes to studying interior decoration, people immediately think of training centers, universities, colleges of fine arts, architecture, painting... but few people think that even in temples and Zen monasteries, this art form also exists and has its own uniqueness, bearing the spirit of Buddhism and Zen.

The Zen lifestyle not only focuses on meditation but also on the art of calligraphy, ink painting... Not stopping there, meditators also want to turn their entire living space into a Zen monastery.

Tourists will be guided by Zen interior design experts, Zen masters and tour guides:

- Organize interior tours at pagodas and monasteries, visit guest houses, refectories, and meditation halls

- Get an explanation of how to arrange objects to create a meditation space

- Receive basic guidance and advice on how to decorate the interior in a Zen style in the house they live in.

Zen-style interior decoration aims to “simplify” the structure of every object displayed in the house. Simple decoration, in harmony with nature is a characteristic of Zen (or more specifically, Zen according to Japanese tradition). Simplicity according to Zen standards aims to create an invisible path for people to integrate with nature. A house without too many objects will facilitate the movement of air currents. Open space, aiming to eliminate all limits between people and nature.

The outside and inside of the house will be in harmony with each other, with no boundaries between spaces. All that exists is a quiet "zen monastery", bringing the human soul back to its original state.

The structure of the house and the simple shapes, vertical and horizontal lines are used as the main axis, the motifs and patterns are not elaborate, complicated, the circles and squares are used, symbolizing heaven and earth. The tranquility of the space is aimed at guiding people towards enlightenment. Simplifying the architecture, but not because of that it is less modern. However, the simplicity of Zen lies in the intrinsic nature of the material of the object combined with the decoration of people.

Zen interior decoration is not to leave any unnecessary objects. The decoration uses natural materials such as: wooden floors, folding doors, small fish tanks, stone bells, wind chimes, white pebbles... Zen emphasizes the pure and natural value of materials and uses them in their raw, bare form.

Zen aims for simplicity, purity and nature. Zen eliminates anything too formal, ostentatious or too elaborate. The main purpose of Zen is to create harmony between man and nature. Decorating in Zen style will be a rhythmic guide from the outside space to the inside space, like a never-ending cycle.

Simple Zen interior decoration classes can be held right in the Zen garden space or in the common rooms of the guest house. The lectures focus on shaping the learners' basic understanding of Zen interior decoration and help learners to decorate their own interior or a private space at home in a simple way so that they can have a quiet, fresh and relaxing space... And the instructors for visitors are Zen masters of the temple or monastery, and can also be architects who are knowledgeable and specialized in this type of architectural style.

3.2.8. Call for incentives for capital investment in Zen tourism

Tourism activities are interdisciplinary. Therefore, to achieve high efficiency, coordination between related sectors and levels is essential and ensures the sustainability of the industry. Strengthening cooperation to create conditions for learning experiences as well as receiving investment capital, supporting tourism development and environmental protection in a sustainable manner and bringing long-term benefits.

Currently, the conditions for developing Zen tourism in Quang Ninh are still limited. On the other hand, to build projects serving Zen tourism requires a huge amount of capital. Therefore, it is necessary to promote the work of encouraging capital investment from state agencies and domestic enterprises.

and outside provinces, organizations, individuals and people, Buddhist monks and nuns... to build technical facilities, improve, renovate and expand works such as dining halls, meditation halls, lecture halls, guest houses, exhibition houses in meditation monasteries and pagodas, train human resources for Zen tourism...

Increase investment capital from the state budget, provincial budget, sponsorship from individuals, local businesses, natural resources and large businesses nationwide for the preservation and restoration of pagodas and related landscapes because their preservation and restoration require a large budget, while the local budget and donations from the people are not enough. For example, Giac Tam Zen Monastery is a large project, currently not completed and still in disarray, to complete it requires a large source of funding from all sides; Quynh Lam Pagoda has been destroyed a lot, both the space and architecture need to be restored.

It is necessary to promote market research and link up with businesses in the industry to create strength. Proactively join hands with large corporations and strong brands to support development. In addition, it is also necessary to prioritize regional cooperation to obtain investment conditions and market linkages.

To attract investment capital, it is necessary to create an open and attractive investment and business environment with many preferential policies such as preferential land policies, administrative procedure reform, tax exemption and reduction policies in the first years for projects, preferential loan priority policies, etc.

In particular, it is necessary to issue and develop many incentive and incentive policies to attract talents, scientists, and experts to work on Zen tourism development projects.

3.2.9. Strengthening the connection of Zen tourism routes

The potential sites for developing Zen tourism are distributed in different areas along the length of Quang Ninh province. This is a favorable condition to link these tourist sites together into a comprehensive tourism program. Zen tourism programs such as practicing Zen, learning to cook vegetarian dishes,

Painting, calligraphy, drawing... are not only practiced at one place but can be linked between temples, monasteries, even places with open spaces, close to nature, quiet... to coordinate implementation in a Zen tour program.

It is necessary to put forward a master plan for Zen tourism in the whole province. This plan must meet all the necessary needs regarding space and time of all relic sites and Zen tourism resource sites to create a complete Zen tourism program.

Include Zen tourist attractions: Yen Tu, Quynh Lam, Cai Bau – Giac Tam, Loi Am…. in the tourism programs of travel companies. Investment must be encouraged and widely promoted in Zen tourist attractions throughout the province so that travel companies know about them and include them in their tours.

3.2.10. Strengthening the coordination of Zen tourism with other types of tourism

other

Quang Ninh can develop many different types of tourism such as:

nature tourism, sea tourism, research tourism, cultural tourism, eco-tourism, adventure tourism, however, in Quang Ninh, sea tourism is mainly developed, Zen tourism has not yet developed. In order for different types of tourism to develop together, it is necessary to link these types together. Because each type of tourism often has its own unique features and different seasonality, such as sea tourism develops in the summer, cultural tourism develops in the spring, but Zen tourism can develop all year round.

To link Zen tourism with other types of tourism, there must be consensus, discussion and cooperation between management agencies, with overall planning direction from the provincial Department of Tourism, investment in building necessary facilities and infrastructure, building traffic routes from national highways to district and commune level roads to tourist attractions, restaurants and hotels to serve the needs of tourists well. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the promotion and propaganda of Zen tourism - a new type of tourism.

along with other scenic spots and tourist areas of the province on mass media for domestic and foreign tourists to know.

Taking Yen Tu as a typical example, in the past, when coming to Yen Tu - Truc Lam Zen Monastery, tourists only participated in the festival program, learned about Buddhist works, visited the ancient pine trees, the vast bamboo forest, enjoyed the cool, fresh climate and local products such as wild apricots, bamboo, medicinal plants... but did not know that there were also a monastery, a lecture hall, art forms such as Zen paintings, Zen poems, tea ceremony, calligraphy... to develop Zen tourism. Therefore, in addition to cultural, ecological, resort and even adventure tours, Yen Tu can also exploit Zen tourism to attract more visitors, extend the visitors' vacation days, and at the same time overcome the consequences of seasonality in Yen Tu tourism.

CONCLUDE

Nowadays, the country's economy is increasingly developing, people have high income and material life, but in terms of spiritual life, people are under a lot of pressure from work, from modern life, industrialization... making them lack comfort and relaxation, so people have the need to find tranquility and peace to regain psychological balance, see life better and be more altruistic... And Zen Tourism has the ability to meet those needs.

In developed tourist countries such as Thailand, Japan, China, Zen tourism (zentourism) with large Zen monasteries, suitable for thousands of tourists to meditate, listen to sermons such as Hamacai-a Zen Monastery (Thailand) has become a type of tourism that attracts a large number of tourists. The tours are often chosen to include the schedule: visiting Buddhist architectural works, learning and immersing in the peaceful life of monks; recreational activities of a meditative nature, relaxing the mind such as: spa, ikebana flower arrangement, tea ceremony... Spa and meditation tourism, also known as "psychological tourism" in Japan has become a highlight attracting foreign tourists.

With 2000 years of development of Buddhism, Zen philosophy is present in the deep culture and lifestyle of Vietnamese people. With a unique system of Zen monasteries spread throughout the localities, Vietnam has the conditions to develop this type of tourism. The whole country has about 120 Zen monasteries, including Truc Lam Yen Tu (Quang Ninh), Truc Lam Tay Thien (Vinh Phuc), Bich Dong (Ninh Binh), Tu Dam, Thien Mu (Hue), Tu An, Giac Lam, Giac Vien (Ho Chi Minh City), Ba Da Pagoda, Tran Quoc Pagoda (Hanoi)... Zen tourism is formed and developed with the appearance of temple tours, festival pilgrimages, Zen cafes, Zen tea, Zen parks or Zen spas in some hotels in some big cities such as: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City...
